Upper Iowa Beef gets state tax incentives for $48 million expansion

State support is helping a northeast Iowa processor expand at a time when demand for local beef processing and jobs is high. Officials with the Iowa Economic Development Authority agreed to provide tax incentives to assist Upper Iowa Beef with a roughly $48 million expansion of its Lime Springs facility, enabling the company to grow capacity, invest in equipment and strengthen its role in the regional beef supply chain.

The incentives include tax credits and refunds tied to job creation and plant investment, and the expansion is expected to create more than 170 new positions while enhancing Upper Iowa Beef’s ability to serve cattle producers across the upper Midwest. Local producers say the project reflects broader efforts to boost value‑added agriculture and retain more processing close to home.
