Transparency
Trust starts with transparency, from the farm to the final cut.
We work with farmers who want to be more than just a number, and who care about the food you feed your family as much as the food they feed their own.
We’re open about how we operate more sustainably, from reducing our plant’s environmental impact to sourcing cattle from local midwest farmers.
We share how our animals are cared for with compassion, focusing on low-stress handling and responsible practices throughout their lives.
Cattle Health + Care
Ensuring Herd Health and Well-Being
Our farmers take great care in raising cattle, with their health and well-being as a top priority. By working closely with nutritionists, farmers make sure their cattle receive the proper balance of nutrients and clean, fresh water to stay healthy throughout their lives. After being weaned from their mothers and moved from grass pastures, cattle are free to graze at feed bunks offering a carefully balanced diet that includes roughage like hay and grass, along with grains such as corn, wheat, and soybean meal. When cattle reach maturity, around 20 months of age and approximately 1,400 pounds, they are ready for harvest.
Beyond nutrition, our farmers develop and follow herd health plans rooted in sound veterinary care and proven agricultural practices. These plans emphasize compassionate handling, low-stress environments, and close attention to each animal’s individual needs. Detailed records are kept to ensure both animal welfare and public health remain the highest priorities.
We welcome local farmers who share these values and are interested in supplying cattle to contact us for more information. Required paperwork is available for download and submission.
