For more than three generations, Peine Farms LLP has been rooted in responsible cattle feeding and stewardship. Located in Cannon Falls, Minnesota, the family-owned and operated farm was established in 1949 and continues to grow under the care and commitment of the Peine family.

Today, Peine Farms primarily feeds black, red, and Charolais–Angus cross cattle, chosen for their efficiency, health, and strong frame. These cattle consistently deliver the high-quality beef the operation is known for. While the cattle are not born on-site, Peine Farms typically purchases 800–900 lb feeder cattle, sourcing nearly all of them from eastern Montana, a region known for producing high-quality livestock.

When it comes to packing partners, Peine Farms values relationships built on trust and shared values. Upper Iowa Beef’s transparency, competitive bids, and commitment to reinvesting in its operation set it apart. Supporting a local, smaller-scale packer aligns closely with Peine Farms’ belief in strengthening the regional beef supply chain.

To Mike Lindquist, sustainability means more than a motto. It’s about ethically maintaining a viable market—ensuring quality supply, consistent demand, and healthy margins—while also protecting natural resources and the environment for future generations.

What keeps the passion for farming alive is simple: the love of feeding cattle. Peine Farms thrives on the challenge of continuous improvement, from increasing efficiency to upgrading facilities. There’s pride in knowing the quality of the product they produce and where it ultimately ends up.

One unique aspect of the operation is that Peine Farms transports nearly all of its own livestock. This hands-on approach allows full control over animal handling and transport timing—an important advantage when it comes to animal welfare, logistics, and overall efficiency.

Looking ahead, Peine Farms plans to enhance feed facilities and animal housing, modestly increase animal numbers, and make major improvements in manure management and utilization. Continued investment in animal comfort and diversified risk management remain key priorities.

Peine Farms exemplifies the dedication, innovation, and pride that help drive a strong and sustainable beef industry, and Upper Iowa Beef is proud to partner with operations like theirs.
